ABA Appoints Lindsay Torrico as Head of ABA Foundation

Lindsay Torrico has been named Senior Vice President of Banking Community Engagement and Executive Director of the American Bankers Association Foundation, which plays a leading role in the industry by helping banks provide financial education, raise issues related to community development and affordable housing, and to achieve corporate social responsibility. goals of improving the well-being of their clients and communities. “We are thrilled to have Lindsay lead the Foundation and build on her long and proud history of helping banks make a real difference in the communities they serve,” said the President and CEO of the ABA, Rob Nichols. “His background in community engagement, politics and philanthropy will help ensure that the banking industry continues to play a leading role in supporting the financial well-being of people in every corner of the country.

“I am honored to join the ABA team and have the opportunity to help America’s banks engage, support and uplift their communities more deeply,” Torrico said. “At this time of economic anxiety, the role banks can play in strengthening communities and fostering economic empowerment is more important than ever. I look forward to working with banks of all sizes to leverage programs ABA Foundation’s successful financial education and consumer awareness initiatives and finding new, innovative and transformative ways for the Foundation to be a force for good.

Torrico joins the ABA after 12 years at United Way Worldwide, where she most recently served as Vice President of Policy and Advocacy. In this role, she worked to activate and mobilize United Way affiliates, corporate partners and caring citizens to build stronger, healthier and more equitable communities. During that time, she expanded the nonpartisan civic engagement and community empowerment efforts of United Way Worldwide and led dozens of successful grassroots campaigns on education, workforce development, credits taxes for working families, COVID recovery and other challenges.

Prior to his stint at United Way Worldwide, Torrico held political positions for Sen. John F. Kerry (D-Mass.) and community outreach positions at City Year and in the office of Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa. She serves on the board of the Convergence Center for Policy Resolution, a nonprofit organization committed to resolving policy challenges across political divides. She is also Chair of the Board of Nonprofit VOTE, which is dedicated to helping nonprofits engage in nonpartisan civic engagement.

Torrico holds a BA in government from the University of Virginia and a master’s degree in public policy from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
