Fred Seely, three-term chairman of JAGA and founder of the Underwood Cup, shows his membership card as the organisation’s first FRIEND OF JAGA.

The Jacksonville Area Golf Association (JAGA) has launched its first-ever fundraising initiative, called Friends of JAGA. Funds raised will cover the association’s administrative costs, enhance its programs and allow the organization to grow, as well as help fund JAGA’s scholarship program, according to JAGA President Jeff Adams. .

“Since its founding in 1954, JAGA has made significant contributions to the growth and promotion of golf while providing financial aid to hundreds of students in Northeast Florida,” Adams said. “The management of JAGA is convinced that now is the time to be proactive in seeking new means of financial support.”

For years, the main means of funding the operations of JAGA have been membership fees and membership fees from member clubs.

In announcing the fundraising campaign, Adams honored Fred Seely as JAGA’s first friend. Seely was chairman of JAGA for three terms in 1983, 2016 and 2017 and founder of the Underwood Cup.

“I’m happy to be the first person to publicly commit to supporting the Friends program,” Seely said.

A minimum donation of $25 qualifies a person to become a Friend of JAGA. Those who contribute $100 or more will receive a personalized “Coreline” Premium Friend of JAGA bag tag for every $100 donated.
