NEW ORLEANS, La. (BRPROUD) – Two Louisiana Law Library staff members were recently elected leaders of the American Association of Law Libraries (AALL).

Law Library Director Miriam D. Childs has been named AALL Treasurer. Sara V. Pic, formerly Head of Law Library Public Services, was elected AALL Secretary and Treasurer of the Government Law Libraries Special Interest Section.

AALL members are legal information experts for the National Association of Law Librarians. It is the only national association that keeps librarians informed of progress. Childs has been an active member of AALL since 2003, according to an official press release. His term begins in July 2022 and ends in July 2025.

Childs received her Bachelor of Arts in History from Louisiana State University (LSU) in 1992 and her Masters of Library and Information Science from LSU in 1993. She worked as an assistant librarian in charge of serials at the library of Law from 2003. In 2016, she was promoted to Director of the Law Library.

Pic received her Bachelor of Arts in Women’s Studies and Russian Civilization from Smith College in 2000. She received her Juris Doctorate from Northeastern University School of Law in 2005 and her Masters of Library and Information Science from LSU School of Library and Information Science in 2014. She became a staff member of the LSU Law Library in 2013.
