MANISTEE – Families facing tough times this year won’t have to give up the tradition of a Christmas tree thanks to Chris Frederick, owner of Blue Earth Tree Farm in Ludington, who donates trees to FiveCAP, Inc. for low income families.

“We are very grateful to Blue Earth Tree Farm for their continued support in helping families in the area have a Merry Christmas,” Mary Trucks, Executive Director of FiveCAP, said in a press release. “Year after year, they have provided us with trees to donate to families who cannot afford to buy one. It’s really wonderful that we have trees available for these families so that parents can create traditions with their children and have that centerpiece for their holiday celebrations.

Frederick gathers a group of volunteers every year on distribution day and along with FiveCAP staff and volunteers they cut between 80 and 100 trees, which are then brought back to each of the four counties in the FiveCAP service area, where the Freshly cut trees will be available free of charge.

For Manistee County, trees will be at the FiveCAP office located at 265 First St. in Manistee after 2 p.m. on December 4. Trees will be available on a first come, first served basis.

For more information, call the Manistee County FiveCAP office at 231-723-8327.
